Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question answered here, click here to contact us.

Could my taxes be raised if we don’t win?

No, due to current legislation there is no penalty or threat of having your value and therefore your property taxes increased as a result of the protest process. The worst outcome that can occur during the hearings process is that your initial valuation is sustained and that then becomes your certified value unless you decide to not seek further relief through arbitration or litigation.

How time-consuming is the process?

Once you have signed up with a consultant firm they basically handle the entire process from filing your protest in the beginning prior to the May 15th deadline to building your case and presenting evidence to the appraisal district representative and or the Appraisal Review Board panel.

How are you able to save me money?
We incorporate our resources and know how from many years of appraisal experience to build your case and to explore many avenues that the average property owner might not be aware of to achieve the largest tax savings possible on your behalf. For the average property owner it can be an arduous task understanding the complexities of the appraisal process and the valuation models and evidence used by appraisal districts. Put our knowledge and experience to work for you.
How do I know if I’m overpaying on my taxes?

You can simply compare your valuation versus other properties of similar size, age, location, and amenities to monitor at what level your property is being assessed. In many cases similar and larger sized properties of otherwise similar characteristics can be valued lower than your property. It’s important to always keep in mind, that the appraisal district conducts mass appraisal where nuances and other important factors can be overlooked.

Does it cost a lot to hire you?

In the grand scheme of things, we are basically risk free. This is to say that our fee structures are contingency based upon how much we are able to save on your behalf. Depending on our client’s needs we can offer flexible fee structures as well.
